Rhadi Ferguson Jr Shines in South Africa

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA —  With an excellent showing across the globe Martial Arts for Social Transformation, Equity and Rights (MASTERs) athlete fellow Rhadi Ferguson competed in her first International Judo Federation Continental Open in Johannesburg, South Africa.  

Not one to shy away from a challenge, Ferguson competed in three events across three different age divisions while in South Africa, medaling in each one.  She took gold in her weight division at the Johannesburg Junior African Cup, swiftly defeating two opponents to reach gold. At the Cadet level, Ferguson participated in the Johannesburg Cadet African Cup, once again securing a first place finish. Returning to fight again, this time at the Senior level, Ferguson made it to the finals of the 2026 Johannesburg African Open.

Ferguson is no stranger to international competition, having secured several international wins as a MASTERs athlete fellow. These experiences contribute to her climb in the judo rankings at home and abroad and bode well for her 2028 prospects. 

Rhadi Ferguson Jr is one of the original MASTERs athlete fellows and is also coached by her father, judo black belt and olympian, Dr. Rhadi Ferguson. She trains primarily out of her father’s school, Tampa Judo, while also participating in training camps around the country and the globe.
